Iglesia Bautista Pacto de Grace

(Covenant of Grace Baptist Church)

Iglesia Bautista Pacto de Gracia is a church plant in Cd Juarez, Chih., MX

of Santa Teresa Baptist Church in Santa Teresa, NM.

History

In March 2015, STBC Pastor Dave Hendrickx began a weekly Bible study in a Silvia Gonzalez's house in Cd Juarez with about seven people. Fifteen months later, the Lord provided another brother’s larger home to facilitate the launch of a formal church-planting effort. With prayer and trepidation, we launched our church plant Sunday, June 12, 2016. Initially, we continued to meet for weekly Bible study but also added a monthly preaching service. In January 2017 we added a mid-week meeting. Aware of the primacy of preaching in the life of the church, we began weekly preaching services in April 2017. That same month, April 2017, we performed our first baptism, celebrated our first Lord’s Supper, and adopted the name Iglesia Bautista Pacto de Gracia (Covenant of Grace Baptist Church). We moved to our current meeting location in July 2017.

Leadership

Pastor Raúl Torres (right) – Raúl was called to the ministry in 2009 and served as a full time church planter in Chiapas for two years. He is part of the staff of Broken Hearts Ministries, a mercy ministry in Cd Juarez. Raul, who is also bilingual, has shared in the preaching and teaching responsibilities since the inception of the church plant.

Frank Gonzales (left) – Frank was saved in 2005 and has been a member of STBC since May 2015. He was set set apart and licensed for the gospel ministry in April 2017 and designated the STBC leader over church plant that same month. Frank works as a Spanish interpreter in the immigration courts. In addition to being a first rate preacher in his own right, he provides simultaneous interpretation for English-speaking guests.

Roberto Angeles (center) – Is a faithful brother with tremendous construction and mechanical skills. Responsible for maintenance of the IBPG facilities, he also organizes the construction efforts for BTM construction teams each year.

Church Membership

IBPG inaugurated it's first members on August, 19, 2018. Seven men and nine women covenanted to establish the first truly confessional and Reformed (1689) Baptist Church in Juarez. (Observe the two young boys sitting in the back row. Surely these are future leaders in the church.)

New members are added who show evidence of a genuine faith in Christ, attend a new members class, and substantially agree with the reformed doctrine and culture of the church.

Meetings

Frank and Raul alternate preaching and teaching. The church gathers each Lord's Day at 1:30 pm for Sunday School. Worship follows at 2:30 pm. Normally a time of fellowship follows the worship hour and often many of the brothers retire to someone's home for continued fellowship.

Pastor Dave Hendrickx preaches once each month and officiates the Lord's Supper.

The church also meets each week at 7:00 pm, Wednesday's for Bible Study. Discipleship and new member's classes are normally scheduled on Saturdays.
